Welcome. I'm Dr. Susan Wnuk, a clinical and counseling psychologist practicing in Toronto, Ontario. I am a staff psychologist at the University Health Network Bariatric Surgery Program where I work with individuals living with obesity and related mental and physical health conditions. My work also involves conducting research, supervising students, teaching and presenting at conferences. I'm an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto and I have a small private practice where I provide individual psychotherapy to adults.
I provide psychotherapy and assessment services to people living with mental health problems including disordered eating, mood and anxiety disorders and borderline personality disorder. The settings where I have worked include university counselling centres, hospitals and private practice. My current research focus is mindfulness, disordered eating, body image and other mental health and social factors related to eating and weight problems. I'm interested in understanding how people can develop a healthy relationship with food and their bodies so that they can live full, satisfying lives consistent with with their values. I have a particular interest in evidence-based approaches to behaviour change that involve mindfulness and emotion regulation. I am a member in good standing with the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
